In Focus: Burnley’s First Ever Youth Arts Festival – created with, for, and by young people, brought to you by Blaze Arts.

Delivered in the summer of 2025, In Focus brought together young people from across Burnley to celebrate their creativity, talent, and imagination!

Round Our Way was a youth‑led project celebrating the legacy of Burnley filmmaker Sam Hanna. Young people from three local high schools worked with Fully Formed Films to create a new digital collection of films and photographs inspired by East Lancashire today, exhibited in Burnley Town Centre in 2024 and supported by a new Pendle Press publication.

This short film introduces the Music or Lose It project that took place in Burnley in 2023 - 2024. Led by Blaze Arts and supported by Youth Music, Brian Mercer Trust, Community Rail Lancashire and Burnley Leisure and Culture.

In 2023, Stand Out Young Producers organised Burnley’s first town‑centre Pride event and parade with support from Blaze. Filled with colour, music and community spirit, the youth‑led celebration welcomed LGBTQ+ people and allies. This video captures their journey, the energy of the day and the impact of a Pride shaped by creativity and local pride.

In 2023 Blaze brought together a group of young disabled people in Preston to explore their creativity, make new connections and share experiences. This film documents what happened during the project and what impact it had on some of those who took part.

In 2023 Blaze's Stand Out project saw young people across East Lancashire engaging with their LGBT+ heritage, creating new art to promote inclusivity and producing events for their local community. This short film captures the impact of this youth led work .

In 2022 five young people from Pennine Lancashire worked with Huckleberry Films to create a new documentary film about Blaze and the impact of our work. In this short 'behind the scenes' film they talk about the process and what they gained from it.

On 30th July 1971 the Campaign for Homosexual Equality had their first public meeting at Burnley Central Library. 51 years later, the Stand Out Young Producers launched their first exhibition celebrating East Lancashire's history of campaigning for LGBT+ rights.

In 2022 and 2023 Blaze supported young people in Burnley to explore East Lancashire's LGBT+ heritage. In this film they talk about their experience and the advice they would give to professionals in the heritage and youth sector who are interested in collaborating with young people on a heritage project

In 2022/23 a group of young people worked with artist Sophie Gibson at The Whitaker museum and art gallery in Rawtenstall to explore the area's history of shoe making. They also discussed how and where shoes are made today and the environmental issues with 'fast fashion'. Together they created a new trail around the museum. In this film they explain what they did, what they gained from the project and what they hope visitors will take away from doing the trail.
