Blaze in the Wild
Blaze in the Wild was a dynamic youth collective of 13–25s in East Lancashire, fired up about protecting their local environment and using creativity to make change. Working with Super Slow Way, Burnley Words Festival and local artists and writers, the group explored East Lancashire’s habitats, uncovered the issues affecting them, and turned their ideas into bold creative action.
Young people worked with two leading landscape artists Rebecca Chesney and Roy McFarlane.
Together they designed and produced a temporary shop‑window exhibition for Burnley Words Festival - a youth‑led installation celebrating the landscape and calling attention to the need to protect it. Along the way, young people built confidence, discovered nature on their doorstep, connected with new friends and gained hands‑on experience of creative careers.
